Overview
Ravangla sits on a saddle in South Sikkim at 2,100 m, between Maenam Hill and Tendong Hill. Tathagata Tsal (Buddha Park) houses a 40 m gilded Buddha statue completed in 2013 and consecrated by the Dalai Lama; the surrounding grounds open out to mountain views on clear days. The Maenam Hill trek (3–4 hours up, 2 down) tops out at 3,260 m and shows Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Kabru and the Singalila range together — one of the most complete peak panoramas in Sikkim. Ralong Monastery, 6 km away, holds the annual Pang Lhabsol festival. Ravangla works well as a quieter overnight stop between Gangtok and Pelling.
