Overview
Namchi is South Sikkim's district headquarters at 1,675 m, primarily visited for two large religious monuments built in the last two decades. Char Dham at Solophok consists of replicas of the four cardinal Hindu pilgrimage sites (Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath Puri, Rameshwaram) plus the twelve Jyotirlingas, on a single ridge — popular with Indian pilgrims who can't visit the originals. Samdruptse, a 5 km drive away, has a 36 m copper statue of Guru Padmasambhava on a hilltop. Temi Tea Garden, 20 minutes away, is Sikkim's only commercial tea estate and produces organic tea exported globally.
