6 trips to Pelling
Overview
Pelling sits on a ridge in West Sikkim at 2,070 m, set up almost entirely for the view. From its eastern edge, Khangchendzonga (8,586 m) rises straight ahead — clearest at dawn between October and December. Pemayangtse Monastery, dating to 1705, is one of the oldest in Sikkim and walking distance from most hotels. The 17th-century Rabdentse Ruins, Sikkim's second capital before Gangtok, are a short downhill walk through forest. Day trips reach Khecheopalri Lake (a sacred site for both Buddhists and Hindus), Yuksom (an hour away), and Singshore Bridge — at 198 m, the second-highest gorge bridge in Asia.
